Obituary for Kathleen Theresa Mosher (Devany) RN

Kathleen Theresa Mosher (Devany) RN
Kathleen Theresa Mosher, R.N. (nee Devany) died peacefully on Jan. 19, 2013. Born March 2, 1922, at home in Akron, she was the sixth of eight children of Dr. Andrew J. and Beatrice (Healy) Devany. The ever-kind and eternal optimist, she cited her parents for instilling a sense of service to family and community. She graduated from St. Martha School, Sacred Heart Academy and St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for a decade for the Veterans Administration and was instrumental in opening its Akron clinic for those returning from World War II. She married Paul Wayne Mosher on July 11, 1953, living first in Bedford and for many years in Kent, where they were members of the University Parish Newman Center parish. She lived her faith by treating all with dignity and compassion: from encouraging two generations of benefit carnivals and working at the election polls, to supporting community rummage sales and always having an extra seat at her table. Paul and Kathleen are survived by their loving children: Mary Mosher, Patricia and Keith Myers, Margaret and Santosh Misra, Kathleen and Daniel Patterson, Charles and Heidi Mosher, and Paul Mosher. Her lesson to always look for the good in people also lives on through grandchildren Lora Hansen, Julia Hansen, Claire and Matt Stonestreet, Vidya Misra, Sutanu and Sapna Misra, Benjamin Mosher and Andrew Mosher; and great-grandchildren who always brought smiles: Kira, Ethan, Emma and Madison. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Jack Devany of Sylvania; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended families.

In addition to her parents and husband, siblings have preceded her in death: Mary Rose and Edward Ceglar, Daniel and Elizabeth Devany, Thomas and Viola Devany, Fr. John Devany CP, Frank and Ann Marie Devany, and Beatrice Devany; sister-in-law Jeanne Devany; and dear members of the Mosher family.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan 21, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Kent State University Parish Newman Center (1424 Horning Rd. Kent, OH 44240).

The family wishes to thank the staff of Haven Homes of Stow, and the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service home care and care center teams, for their compassionate care and love for our mother.
