Obituary for Stephen J. Koval

Stephen John Koval, 81, passed away on July 22, 2014. He is survived by Trudy, his wife of 61 years. He had 10 children: twin daughters Kathy (Dolan) and Karen (Henderson), Beth (Fox) Agnes (Oakes), Steve Jr., Joe (wife, Kathy), Rosemary (Cistone), Jim, Mary Pat (Avery) and Colleen (Graham). He had 29 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, all whom he loved dearly. His family; providing for them, supporting them, encouraging them and enjoying time with them, was always his highest priority and this value was the legacy he left to them. Never afraid of work, he divided his energy between building tires for “The General”, The General Tire Co. and selling real estate, first for Frank Krause, then Ralph Smith and finally, Geneva Chervenic. In his prime, he could nearly look at any home in the Silver Lake area and know the last 2 times it sold and for how much. He was a humble man, never wanting the spotlight. Strong in his faith and trust in God, he passed this legacy to his children and grandchildren by his example. It was his practice, in times of crisis to gather as many of them together to recite the Rosary. Many were the people and families that were touched by his life.
Calling hours will be on Friday July 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Saturday at Holy Family Church in Stow, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
