Condolence From: Patricia Nelson
Condolence: I just found out Dave passed. I was a former girlfriend back in high school. I recall those unfiltered Lucky Strikes he used to smoke. He was so dark and handsome back then, and as his photo here shows, he remained so. I was in Italy on vacation when his ship was docked in Naples--he chose to be an obedient sailor and listen to his captain who advised him not to spend time with me--consequently, I met someone else from his ship and married him. When his ship came to port in Newport, RI, I saw Dave for the last time. Soon thereafter I moved to California where I remain. I know I hurt him deeply, but he had made his choice. I always wanted to apologize to him and his mother, but our paths never crossed again. I loved his mother, Alice--his dad was a peach--he would visit with my father. Alice made a wonderful dinner just before I left for Europe. Til this day, I try to make her homemade rice pilaf, but it never matches hers. I remember his brother, John, who I believe was a little younger than Dave--we all hung around together. Since I'm a journalist, I like good stories and wanted to share mine in paying tribute to Dave and extending my condolences to his family--even though 8 years have passed, I know the pain never goes away.

Condolence: Although I only knew you a few years, they were worth remembering. You will be missed.
Fair winds and following seas will deliver you safely to your new port.

Condolence: I'll remember all the good times and great memories we shared, and there were so many of them. You were not only my big brother but also my protector, always looking out for me. You are with Mom, Dad and John again and free of any pain. Fly with the Angels. You will be so missed. We love you!
