Obituary for Michael Stephen Walters

Michael Stephen Walters
The world lost a tender soul when Michael Stephen Walters passed away on October 26, 2014. He was born on January 21, 1964 to William and Henrietta Walters. Mike was a special kid, who faced and conquered more challenges than any person should have to. But, those victories were always a source of tremendous pride for him and his family.

Mike accomplished a lot in his life. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1984. His first job was at his dad’s Shell station on Front St. Afterwards he got a job at Hardy’s on Front St., and worked there for nearly 18 years, until they closed. Next, he worked at McDonalds on Graham Rd., until he lost his leg, due to Diabetes. He made friends wherever he went. His quiet way, his willingness to help and his shy smile made people like him and that made him happy.

Mike was a member of The United Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He, once again, made many friends there, in no small part because of his faith and his innocence. He was always the first to ask for prayers for others and enjoyed letting everyone know “I’m not going to give up, I’ll be back”.

Mike was a good man, who inspired others. No matter the challenge, he faced it with grace and courage and prayer. I wish I was more like him.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Henny, his sister Theresa and his niece Monica. He is survived by his sister and caretaker Connie Styer, sister Diana Hayhurst, brother Mark (Michelle) Walters, brother Patrick (Susan) Walters, sister Ann (Bruce) Dickon. Nephews and nieces Jamie, Melissa, Andy, Mark, Bryon, Amanda, Lynn. He also leaves behind many great nieces and great nephews and The Kiley Clan, a network of cousins and second cousins that loved and supported Mike.
