Obituary for Loretta "Kitty" Ludwig (Mehen)

Loretta "Kitty" Ludwig (Mehen)
Loretta (Kitty) Ludwig, a long time Akron resident, passed on to Heaven unexpectedly on February 07, 2015 at the age of 63.

Kitty is survived by her husband, Leonard Paul Ludwig Sr.; her children, Dana Marie Christy (John) and Megan Mehen Ludwig; her grandchildren, Leonard Paul Ludwig II (Jessica), Kaitlin, Isaiah, Maeve, Elijah, and Sean; her great-grandchild, Chloe; her siblings, Rebecca Lecky, Patty Oddo, Karen Glinsek, and William Mehen; along with many nieces and nephews. Kitty was pre-deceased by her parents, James Mehen and Edith Cavanaugh and her brothers, James Mehen and Mark Mehen.

Kitty was born in South Bend, Ind. on March 27, 1951 to James and Edith Mehen. On September 14, 1974 Kitty married Leonard Paul Ludwig Sr. Kitty and Lenny were married for 40 years before her untimely death. Kitty graduated with honors from The University of Akron with a Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences. Kitty was a long time employee of Acme FreshMarket and used her degree as a social worker for Summit County. On March 8, 1976 and October 13, 1980 respectively this happy couple was blessed with two beautiful daughters, who were the most important part of Kitty's life.

Kitty enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. She also was very proud of her Irish Heritage, loved Irish music and Irish festivals. Kitty also enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises. She was a devoted wife and mother and an inspiration to all who had the joy of knowing her. Her kindness and hospitality knew no bounds, even in this tragic event she was still giving to others through organ donation. Kitty will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all that knew her.
Her family is asking that donations be made in her memory to a Go Fund that has been setup. The Go Fund title is Kitty Ludwig Memorial Fund.

Kitty’s brother, William “Bill” Mehen passed away on May 20, 2015. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, June 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). A celebration of both of their lives will take place on Sunday, June 14 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Hibernian Club (2000 Brown St., Akron).
