Obituary for Walter P. "Walt" Stricker

Walter P. "Walt"  Stricker
Walter P. Stricker, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 20. Walt was born in Cleveland to the late Mathias and Rose Stricker. He served in the Army Air Corps as a B-25 pilot. He was a graduate of the Chicago Aeronautical University with a degree in Engineering. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Joan (nee Zygey). They were together for 67 years. After his retirement from Goodyear Aerospace (Loral) in 1989 he was able to pursue his love of golf and could boast of having made five holes-in-one. He also loved fishing, camping and traveling with his wife, Joan. Walt was a member of Holy Family Parish in Stow for over fifty years.
Together with his wife, Joan, he is survived by daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Miller; sons, Michael (Kristi), Stephen, and Gregory (Lynn); grandchildren, Robert (Loretta), Brian (Lauren), Chrissy, Codi, Clay, Colten, Troy, Evan, Morgan, and McKenzie; great grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Chloe, Shylo, Cash; brother, Joseph (Beverly) Stricker. His brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Helen Stricker preceded him death. The family would like to acknowledge Hospice nurses, Norma and Tiffany for their kindness and loving care.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr. Mike Ausperk officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:00 on Wednesday following a luncheon at church.
