Obituary for James Francis "Jim" Cahill

James Francis “Jim” Cahill passed away on March 8, 2017. He was born in Akron, the son of Timothy, Sr. and Grace Cahill. He was a graduate of Stow High School, class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.

A member of United Auto Workers, Jim worked for General Motors retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Visitation of Mary Parish in Akron and more recently St. Patrick’s in Kent. Jim always felt blessed to be a Roman Catholic and was proud of his Irish heritage. He believed it was better to give than receive. He was a golfer and helped organize the golf tournament for Twins Day Festivals. Jim volunteered many years for soup kitchens in Akron and Cleveland. For over 30 years he dedicated himself to helping the homeless. He volunteered with Sr. Henrietta and St. Herman’s in Cleveland and also helped the homeless when he lived in Port Charlotte, Fl. He loved his family and enjoyed family reunions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy Sr. and Grace Cahill; brothers, William and Timothy Jr.; sisters, Jacqueline Olesen and Sheila Seal.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maricel; his loving daughters, Monica and Angela; his twin brother, John of Stow; brother, Paul Joseph of Fort Meade, FL; and sister, Maureen Beebe of Stow; and brother-in-law, Deacon David Seal. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lito and Peala Margia; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hudson will follow.
