Obituary for Edward Martin Herman

Edward M. Herman passed away on May 1, 2017 in Stow, Ohio. Born in Cleveland on April 7, 1927, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Nanassy) Herman. Edward attended Mantua Center School in Mantua, Ohio. In 1948 he enlisted in the Air Force where he served as an aircraft technician during the Korean War. At the end of his service in 1952 he returned to Mantua and the Herman family General Store. On Nov. 22, 1952 he married Geraldine Randolph of Mantua. He completed his Mechanical Engineering Degree at Fenn College (now Cleveland State) in 1958. He later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 29 years as a tire engineer. Edward’s interests were gardening as a member of Stow Men’s Garden Club as well as playing his guitar.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Eugene and Joseph Herman. He is survived by wife, Geraldine; sister, Margaret (Tom) Luxmore; sons, Edward, Jr. (Ginny) of Uniontown, Michael (Rose) of Tallmadge, Thomas (Jennifer) of Clermont, Fl., David (Jennifer) of Tallmadge, Phillip of N.Canton, Robert of Cuyahoga Falls; and daughter, Judy Spiros of Medina. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, as well as 7 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Fr. Mike Ausperk will officiate at a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment at Silver Springs Cemetery with military honors rendered by Wright-Patterson AFB will follow.
