Obituary for Bernard Ronald "Bernie" Walls

Bernard Ronald Walls,74, passed away on May 22, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, Georgia.

Bernie (Ron) was born on May 23, 1942 in Grantsville, Maryland to Grace and Bernard Walls.  He grew up with three sisters in Waynesburg, Ohio.  After graduating from Sandy Valley High School in 1960, he moved to Akron and began his 45-year career with the George J. Myers Company which later became Barry Wehmiller Pneumatic Scale. He was an active member of The Church of God a Worldwide Association.  Baptized in 1959 he spent his entire life a devoted Christian serving God and others.  

He married Betty Carol Cayton on March 10, 1961 and he became the proud father of five.  Family was Bernie's top priority in life. They frequently traveled together enjoying family vacations and church activities.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends.  He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors, photography and gardening. 

He will be greatly missed by wife, Betty; children, Rhonda Holmes (James), Donna Kalessa (Rodney), Nicole Ollila (Chris), Shane Walls (Morgan Smith); five grandchildren, Brionna Johnson (Kory), Dylan, Lyndsey, and Brady Kalessa, Wyatt Walls; great-grandchild, Brennan Johnson; two sisters Julie Swarey, Roberta Rose (Benny) and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Aaron Walls; parents, Bernard and Grace; and sibling, Joyce (Walls) Manning.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) where funeral services will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Valley Cemetery in Waynesburg, Ohio.
