Obituary for Florentino Martinez

Florentino  Martinez
Florentino Martinez, 90, of Akron, passed away peacefully at home on June 24 surrounded by his loving family. A long time Akron resident, Mr. Martinez was born in Waco, Texas. He was a founding member of the Hispanic Community at St. Bernard's Church. Known for his generous nature, he was a volunteer at the Food Pantry and as a translator for the International Institute.
His survivors include his wife, Alta; children, Eva Reyes (Alvaro), Lillian Martinez-Pinzon (Ramon), Ana Martinez, Buster Reese (Kim), and Steve Lara (Tammie); as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
