Obituary for William E. "Bucky" O'Connor

William E. "Bucky"  O'Connor
William E. “Bucky” O’Connor, 96, of Akron, passed away into the loving arms of the Father on November 14, 2017. He was born October 20, 1921 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte, infant son, Joseph, son, Tim and parents, Joseph V. and Isabelle O’Connor. He is survived by his children, Michael, Kitty Factor, Maureen (Ed) Brown, Kevin (Colleen), Peggy (Terry) McDonald and daughter-in-law Shelly O’Connor; grandchildren, Theresa (John) Garey, Julie Factor, Michelle (Mike) McGraw, and Bridget (Matt) Crawford, Scott and Aaron (Erin) Brown, Katie O’Connor, Bill (Teresa), Tom (Jennifer), Matt (Therese) and Megan McDonald; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jenna Garey, Hannah and Emma McGraw, Conall, Dillon and Lochlan Crawford, Connor, Tegan and Maggie Brown, and Ben, James and Ryan McDonald. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Maxine Thome and many nieces and nephews.
Bucky was a proud graduate of St. Vincent High School, Class of 1940, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He attended Kent State University and served in the United States Navy in World War II. He was the owner of the O’Connor Lumber Company and was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Mark Heffernan Division.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 17 at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church (164 W. Market St.) interment, Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bucky O’Connor Family Scholarship Fund, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Foundation, 15 N. Maple St., Akron, Ohio 44303.
