Obituary for Evelyn J. "Valiquette" Chatman

Evelyn J. "Valiquette"  Chatman
STOW. Evelyn Jean Chatman (neé Valiquette), 92, died peacefully in her sleep, February 13, 2018. She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on December 14, 1925 to Evelyn H. Yaw and Austin Valiquette and lived in greater Akron nearly all her life. Evelyn grew up in Firestone Park, attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and graduated from Garfield High School class of 1944. In her youth she worked at Polsky’s and Goodyear Aircraft and later was a homemaker and Avon Lady. She enjoyed crocheting large ornamental afghans for friends and family and other craftwork. She lived in Uniontown for 20 years starting in the late 1960s and later lived in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alvin C. Chatman, brother Don Yaw, and stepson Robert A. Chatman, and is survived by son Mark (Yolanda), and good friend from her school days, Mrs. Doris Christner James. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park Ivy Chapel (2580 Romig Rd.) on Wednesday April 4 at 2:00. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to service time.There has been cremation per Evelyn’s wishes.
