Obituary for James E. "Jim" Data

James E. "Jim"  Data
James E. Data, 83, passed away on March 1. He was born in Akron, the son of the late Dominic and Helen Data. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of ’51 Jim played center and was Captain of the football team. After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Sandoval during the Korean Conflict. He was a meat cutter by trade and worked for over 50 years before retiring. At one time he was an avid golfer but was still a fan of the Cleveland sports teams and the Buckeyes. He was a 36 year member of AA.
He is survived by daughter, Robin (William) Medina; son, Jeffrey (Gail); grandchildren, Matt, Megan, Dominic, and Sonny; great-granddaughter, Alexandra; many nieces, nephews and their families. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William; and niece, Julie.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will follow with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 281.
