Obituary for Raymond E. Hayes

Raymond E. Hayes, 92, of Akron passed away January 25, 2019. Born in Lynn, Mass. to the late Daniel and Mildred Hayes, he has lived most of his life in the Akron area. He served in the Navy in World War II and later joined the Air Force where he had 22 years service before retiring. In Akron he worked for Cotter Storage for over 20 years. Raymond was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and also belonged to the VFW Post 3388.

His survivors include daughters, Susan Hayes (Gary Grove), Bridgette Vera (Edgardo Vera), Catherine (Chuck) Dean; sons, Michael (Kellie), Edward (Nicole), and Matthew (Cheryl); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jerri Lynn Hayes.

In 2016, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline. Also preceding him in death are his children, Maureen Huffman, Raymond, and Patrick; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Hayes.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where Fr. Jonathan Zingales will conduct a funeral service at 4:30. Inurnment and military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
