Obituary for Anthony M. "Tony" Leacoma

Anthony (Tony) Leacoma of Stow, passed away at the age of 79, on Dec 18, 2016. He was born on April 12, 1937 in Akron to Nick and Madeline (Meola) Leacoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe and brother-in-law, Phil Devine. He is survived by his loving wife Lynette (Lyn), married for 52 years; his two sons Mike (Tracey) and Mark (Kelly), and four grandchildren, Allyson, Katie, Autumn, and Michael; sisters Connie Devine, Lucy (Joe) Mickunas; sister-in-law Claudia Leacoma; father/mother-in-law Harold and Pauline Gaskill; sisters-in-law Janice (Jim) Herndon, Judy (Clyde) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony grew up on North Hill, graduating from Hower Vocational High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army and the Reserves. He retired from the City of Akron in 1991 after 28 years of service. Tony was well known in the fast-pitch softball community, playing for over 27 years, inducted into the Akron Softball Hall of Fame in 1996. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt.91) where Fr. Mike Ausperk will officiate at funeral services on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, Tony and Lyn would like to request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Society, or Summa Hospice Group.
