Obituary for Anthony R. Urdiales

Anthony R.  Urdiales
Anthony R. Urdiales, 96, went to his heavenly reward after a long illness. He was born in Verona, PA and graduated from Garfield High School, Akron. He served in the U.S. Army, Fifth Armored Division during World War II receiving many combat decorations. He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., Firestone Post 3383. He excelled as a machinist, retiring from Goodyear Aerospace after 30 years service. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.

His unconditional love, generosity, dedication and devotion were legendary, with his life revolving around his family and faith. He embraced many other people with this same devotion, and will be missed as a source of love and guidance by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anita M., son Richard A. and parents Antonio L. and Maria J., brothers Benito and Frankie.

He is survived by daughters, Rose U. (Robert L.) and Deborah; sons, Anthony R. (Kerri), Ray, and Robert; sisters, Tomasa and Emma; half-brother, Benny (Pam) and half-sister, Palma; nieces, Mariana, Carmen, Margarita (Phil), and Maria; nephews, Jaime and Wenceslao; and close friends, John and Marge Versiackas, and the Brokaw family. Tata brightened the lives of grandchildren, Anthony R. (Karen) with his mother Chris, Lori L. and Caitlin M., and great-granddaughters, Kristen M. and Karmen R.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) with the Guadalupe Sodality reciting the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Firestone VFW Post 3383.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 164 W Market St., 44303-2373 or the V.F.W. Post 3383, 690 W. Waterloo Rd., 44314.
