Obituary for Betty Kate Parker (Petty)

Betty Kate Parker. 83, was born June 8, 1939 to the late Herman and Elizabeth Petty in Carthage, TN. She went home to heaven on October 7, 2022.
She and her family moved to Akron, Ohio and she graduated from Ellet High School in 1957.
Betty was married to Albert Kent Parker and was a stay-at-home mom. She proudly had a home-based business, Parker Typing Services, which she ran for 44 years. Mom was an active member in the Stow-Munroe Falls School District PTA for 18 years and served as a “Room Mother” for both of us kids at Riverview Elementary. She and dad never missed a chance to cheer us on at our soccer games and during Stow High School Marching Band activities. Mom and dad both loved making the holidays special, including bringing giant pumpkins to Riverview from our grandparents farm for Halloween parties, and having Santa and Mrs. Claus at our home for years during Christmas. After our fathers death, Mom moved to Cardinal Village in Cuyahoga Falls in 2016, where she enjoyed her active life. She loved living at Cardinal and had many friends with the other residents and staff. Mom kept up with her typing skills at Cardinal by doing a Cardinal news letter every month.
Betty was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her in-laws, Curtis and Veldesta Parker, brother-in-law, Jerry Parker, and sister Andra Tuczakov.
Betty is survived by her children, Andra Lynn (Bob) Johnson, and Scott (Jamie) Parker, her grandchildren, Jimmy (Renee) Parker, Kyle (Taylor) Johnson, and Dylan Parker. Betty was thrilled to be a great-grandmother to James Parker and Justin Johnson. She is also survived by her brother, Larry (Waneta) Petty, two nieces, one nephew and their families. Betty had many life-long friends who loved her dearly, including her childhood friend, Darlene, and special friends Gary and Brenda Lindsay and Joyce Cooey.
We would like to thank the residents and staff at Cardinal Village for loving our mom. Special thanks to Kim and Cindy, and her many friends for making her life wonderful during the years she resided there. You were all a part of her family, and she loved you dearly.
Per Betty’s wishes, there will be a service to celebrate her life at Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home in Stow, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 beginning at 4 PM. Her children and family will receive guests following the service at her daughters home in Suffield. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home.
