Obituary for Chi Yeh Koo

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, Chi Yeh Koo, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at 86 years old. He was born in China but immigrated to the United States where he graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in agricultural economics and statistics.
With his technical skills, he moved and became a computer programmer with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. He worked there for nearly 30 years before retiring. On January 10, 1972, he married Nancy Miao. Together they raised their son, Oliver.
Chi Yeh loved his friends and his family. During the summers, he would take his family on vacation road trips to visit various national parks or even the World’s Fair.
For his hobbies, he loved to walk around the neighborhood every day and play bridge with friends. He was also an avid stamp collector who shared and carried on his own father’s stamp collection comprising stamps from around the globe. He also loved to sing and listen to classical music and Broadway musicals.
Chi Yeh was preceded in death by his father, S S Koo, and his mother, F T. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Oliver (Pei-Yang), his granddaughter Isadora, his sister Chi Wei Koo Liu, and many nieces and nephews in the US and overseas.
A brief funeral service was held outside on Saturday, October 31st, 2020, at the Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Our family wanted to thank our many friends and family who have supported him and us during his life and remembrance.
