Christopher J. Melin, 54, passed away on October 24 after a hard-fought battle with appendix cancer. Chris was born in Painesville. He was the husband of Aimee (nee Patrick) and loving father of Mackenzie and Alyssa (Russo). After graduating from Lake Catholic High School in 1982, Chris enlisted and honorably served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and worked as an Ammunition Technician. He was a Facilities Manager at Cleveland Clinic, pursuing a degree from Bismarck State in the power engineering field.
Chris was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. Faith and family were foremost. He will always be remembered for his endearing smile and his genuine nature. Chris was an ultra-marathoner, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed travel, fishing & photography. He was passionately working on restoring his 1965 Dodge Power Wagon, which he owned since 1985, and recently taught Mackenzie how to drive it. Chris was a proud member of Team RWB, a group dedicated to enriching the lives of veterans.

Chris is survived by his beloved parents, Ronald and Lois Melin; sisters, Michelle (Paul) Peterson, Danielle (Tony) Milam; brother, Eric (Kellie); nieces and nephews, Emily, Michael, Maggie, Zachary, Jackson, and Catherine. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Margaret (Palko) Chebra and Edythe (Brennan) Royer and George Melin and nephew, Alexander Peterson. He also leaves behind his Marine Corps brothers - Shawn, Jeff, Jeff, & Dave; as well as loving aunts and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Monday, October 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (3333 Kent Road, Stow). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow; burial with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman will follow.

In an effort to continue Chris’ legacy to show Mackenzie the rewards of hard work, if you wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mackenzie’s college fund, c/o of American Funds or to Team RWB.
