Obituary for Frances M. Krznarich

Frances M. Krznarich, age 87, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2018. Born in Croatia on January 12, 1931, she immigrated to the United State in 1951.
Frances was a long-time, active and faithful member of Christ the King Parish and upon its closing in 2009, became of member of Blessed Trinity.

Frances belonged to the Croatian Catholic Union and the Akron Junior Tamburitzans, instilling a love of their Croatian heritage in her children. Only 4’10”, she was feisty and probably the toughest lady we will ever know. A cancer diagnosis at age 43 left her worried she wouldn’t be around to finish raising her children. However, Baka, as she is known to them, lived to see all but the last of her grandchildren graduate from high school. She liked to joke that she was only 39 years old and remained that age for the last 48 years. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting and bead work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Katica; brother, Ivan; and a nephew, all of Croatia. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Sue) and Tom (Debbie); daughter, Maria (Randy) McFarland; grandchildren, John, Matthew, Annie, Joel, Jarod, and Kathryn; step-grandchildren, Matt, Jenny, and Katie; and soon-to-be six step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are relatives in Croatia, Australia, and Germany.

Frances' family would like to thank those who assisted her to live independently through Passport, Mobil Meals and other programs, along with those at Summa Akron City and Bath Creek Estates who cared for her in her last days.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish (300 E. Tallmadge Ave.) with calling hours one hour before Mass. Memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Food Pantry.
