Gary M.Shiplett, 62, passed away on March 20 after a long illness. An Akron native, he was a graduate of East High School. Although an area resident he loved spending time in the Florida Keys and New Mexico. Currently retired, he had worked as a cook at Fred’s Diner.
His survivors include daughter, Raia (Michael) Presto; mother, Mildred Shiplett; his granddaughters whom he loved very much, Madeline and Riley; sisters, Joanne Brelish, Debbie (Duane) Gisewhite, Beverly Meade, and Gina Warren. His father, Harold, and brothers, Mark and Joel preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on TUESDAY, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery will follow at 1:00 p.m.
