Obituary for Hilda Rosina Goetzinger (Oswald)

Hilda Rosina Goetzinger (Oswald) of Stow passed away on January 11, 2022. She was born on August 25, 1929 in Ruma, Yugoslavia to the late Martin and Maria Oswald. Hilda was preceded in death by her brother Horst Oswald. She emigrated from Austria to the United States in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen. For 25 years, Hilda was employed at Roadway Express, Inc. in the data entry department before retiring in 1994.

Hilda was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church having received the sacrament of marriage there in 1958. She began her association with the Catholic Church as a member of St. Joseph Parish while living in Cuyahoga Falls. Upon moving to Stow in 1974, she became a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. As a member in later years, she enjoyed singing and developing friendships in the church choir. Hilda also enjoyed participating in spiritual retreats for prayer and community at Loyola of the Lakes.

During her life, Hilda was an avid traveler, enjoyed family gatherings, cooking for those she loved, and found the music of Mozart very uplifting. She was also a member of The German Family Society for many years where she enjoyed cultural and community events.

She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Anton (Tony); sons, Tony (Randi) and Werner; grandchild, Emma; sister, Linda Neidert and sister-in-law, Carol Oswald, along with her many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Rd, Stow, OH 44224 with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.
