Obituary for James A. "Jim" McFadden

James A. McFadden, 82, of Akron passed away on Sept. 1 after a sudden illness. Born in Akron, to the late Paul and Helen McFadden, he was retired from Goodyear and was active in the Retirees Club where he served as secretary. He was also active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, FOPA #6, Army-Navy #102, and the Knights of Columbus. Jim was a member of St. Matthew’s Parish.

In 2014 he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma. His survivors include daughter, Kelly (Jerry) Duhme; sons, Ronald (Sherri), James Michael, Randy L., and Brian L. (Nichole); sisters, Ruth Ann Pelyhes and Bernadine Boyce; grandchildren, Arthur James, Paula Marie, Steven Scott, Ashley Nichole, Rebecca Lynn, Alexander, and Brandon James; great-grandchildren, A.J., Amaya, Dan, and Alyssa. He also leaves his beloved companion, Paula Halas.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where the Ancient Order of Hibernians will recite the Rosary at 7:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Matthew’s Church.
