Obituary for Jeannette Pittinger (Pamer)

Jeannette Pittinger (Pamer)
Jeannette Marie Pittinger (nee Pamer), 87, passed away on May 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Jeannette was born to John and Emma Pamer on January 13, 1931 in Akron, Ohio. The oldest of 5, she cherished her 4 younger brothers. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, sharing her talents with upwards of 12 Catholic parishes throughout her life. She also had a beautiful voice and starred in her senior class production of Snow White. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1949, where she was the class secretary, a position she continued to fill until her death; planning monthly luncheons, reunions, and yearly class Masses. She met her future husband Art in their sophomore year. She attended Marygrove College in Detroit, MI for a year before returning to Akron to begin her married life and raise her family. She found fulfillment working as the parish secretary as well as teaching 2nd grade CCD at St. Joseph Parish in Cuyahoga Falls for many years. She was blessed to belong as an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.
The proud mother of 8 children, Jeannette passed along her strong faith, love of family, invincible strength, sense of humor, and obsession with grammar; traits which have been continued through 3 generations. A highly competitive player, she would dominate every kind of game, whether it was cards, word games, Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. She was an avid birdwatcher, fisherwoman, and back seat driver. How she reached 87 years with her distain of vegetables and love of doughnuts remains a mystery. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always knew Grandma P. was a ready source of a sweet treat.
Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Pittinger, son Mark Pittinger, son-in-law Dwite Polos, grandchildren Erik Gillig and Melissa Gillig, and brother John R. Pamer, Jeannette is survived by her children Penny Pittinger, Kathi and Richard Hughes, John and Cecelia Pittinger, Pat Polos, Mary and Chuck Klawuhn, Sue and Tim Simenc, Therese and Peter Ware, and Joan and Tom Khoury; grandchildren Katie Pittinger, Caryn and Patrick Martin, Yvonne and John Ams, Leah Gillig, Bruce and Beth Gillig, Stefan Gillig and Jessie Groot, Mark and Audra Gillig, Mary and Tony Cucolo, Alan Hughes, Tracy and Aaron Gangi, Renee and Bobby Miller, Raymond Pittinger, Suzanne and Mike Gay, Tina and Michael Buckwell, Tim Simenc Jr., Emily Simenc, Maggie Simenc and Brandon Price, David Simenc, Alan Young, Heather and Tyler Roper, Joel Adolphson, Hannah and Cody Brooks, Grace and Taylor Vance, Clint and Stephanie Khoury, Theresa Khoury, Alyssa Khoury, Hannah Khoury and Chris Carden, and 29 great-grandchildren; brothers Larry Pamer, Russ and Patty Pamer, Ralph and Janet Pamer, sister-in-law Claudia Pittinger, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
