John S. Deeken, PhD., 56, passed away on September 18 while living in Pittsburgh, Pa. Born in Cleveland John had lived much of his life in the Stow area. He was a graduate of the University of Akron earning his Masters in Applied Mathematics and his Doctorate in Chemistry. He also had a Masters in International Business from Toledo U. Among other professional organizations, he was a member of the American Chemical Soc.

He is survived by his beloved, Evelyn Sperry; sons, James Deeken, and Matthew Deeken (Chelsea Toth); mother, Teri Wartko; brothers, William (Kristine) Deeken, and Eric Deeken (Sheri); granddaughter, Salem Deeken; sister-in-law, Tracy Deeken; brother-in-law, Dave Stemphoski; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, William; sister, Marianna Deeken (Dave Stemphoski); and brother, Bryan Deeken (Tracy).

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 11am to 1pm at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) where funeral services will take place at 1:00pm. CASUAL DRESS - TIE-DYE WELCOME. Interment, Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
