Obituary for Kathleen W. Duckworth (Wathen)

Kathleen W. Duckworth 90, of Stow, who was born and raised in Bardstown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, January 24, 2019. Katie graduated from Nazareth School of Nursing in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart Ed in June of 1950 and was married for 63 years.
She was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish and active in Circle Eight. She played bridge with the Holy Family Bridge Flight and continued to play with friends well into her 80’s. Katie was active in the Thistle Class Association and shared the love of sailing with her husband and family as a member of South Shore Yacht Club and Berlin YC.
As a nurse Katie worked at St. Thomas Hospital, Green Cross Hospital, Visiting Nurse Association and retired from Akron City Hospital where she spent 15 years in Staff Development. She enjoyed golf and tennis and even had a hole in one at Ocean Village, Florida where she wintered for many years. Katie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her nine children, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband Ed and daughter Barbara.

She is survived by her children, John Duckworth, Kathy (Jack) Finefrock, Ginny (Andy) Barnes, Anne (Mark) Keyser, Mary Jeanne Duckworth (Cathy) Cain, Marybeth (Mike) Hall, Warren (Dianne) Duckworth, Peggy (Mike) Goetz; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way).

Friends may call Sunday 4 to 7 pm at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd., (at Rt. 91) in Stow. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday at Holy Family Church, 3179 Kent Road in Stow. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield.
