Obituary for Lillian V. "Lil", "Lilly" Massa (Vukich)

Lillian (Lil, Lilly) V. Massa went home to be with the Lord peacefully on April 9, 2021.   She was 87 years old. In 2010 she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Louis Massa, Sr.

She was born in Mount Carmel, PA to the late Samuel and Annie Vukich. Lil and Lou raised their family in Munroe Falls Ohio, where they lived for more than 50 years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Lil was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The time she dedicated to her grandchildren throughout their childhood will leave them with cherished memories. She loved spending time with family as part of family catering business. Music and dancing was a passion throughout her life, including polka and ‘jitterbug’ dancing with her husband and daughter. Her feet started tapping as soon as she heard music, and at the age of 85 she was on the floor dancing to the ‘oldies’ jitterbugging with her daughter.

Lil worked as a teacher’s aide at Echo Hills Elementary school for more than 20 years where she was loved by both children and teachers because of her contagious smile and laughter. She made many friends through her involvement in Sewing Ladies/Christ Child, Garden Club and playing bingo. If you were out with her, it was only minutes before she ran into people she knew from her years within the community.

Her survivors include son, Louis Jr. (Stephanie); daughter, Michele Massa-Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Massa, Jordan Dennis, Nicole Massa, Michal Smith, and Dominic Massa; and great grandson Isaac.  She also leaves brothers, George (Stephanie) Vukich, and Nicholas (Patricia) Vukich. She was preceded in death by her sisters Nadia and Delores.

Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14th. Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m, one hour prior to mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Further details can be found at the Dunn-Quigley website, including live streaming of the service.
