Obituary for Mark J Forsthoefel

Mark J. Forsthoefel, our beloved brother, dear son of Beth Forsthoefel & Frederick W. Forsthoefel Jr. (deceased 1977), peacefully passed away on March 1, 2022 in his sleep. He is survived by the eldest sister Jill T. Grant J.D, (Stow, OH – husband, Tim Grant) and her son Curtis C. Grant (Chagrin Falls, OH, wife Amy & Cora, great niece), Eldest son Dr. Frederick W. Forsthoefel lll D.O. (Belpre, OH) and brother Kurt S. Forsthoefel (Cuyahoga Falls, OH – partner, Beth Gatchell). Mark greatly appreciated all the years of care, compassion and friendship/caregiving of Michael (Mikey) Thomas and he certainly considered him family. Mark was last of four children born just over 4 years after the first child in the family.

Mark had such a sweet & tender soul and was brilliant in so many ways. He could always captivate you with his beautiful smile and his welcoming love for all. He had such an outstanding mechanical aptitude and could fix and or create just about anything. He did not go to college, but was really intelligent and inventive in so many ways. Mark lived with a disability over the last several years, but still kept his spirits high and had a curious and very creative mind. He always was willing to help solve a problem over the phone, even if he could no longer physically do the work.

His creative skills during his lifetime included much beautiful work at Kurt's home; including an outstanding addition and remodeling of the deck and house. This remodeling and expansion on Kurt’s home is truly spectacular! This would not be nearly the same without Mark's amazing woodwork finishing talents. Mark also did a multitude of smaller jobs at his brother Fritz's home on the Ohio River in Belpre, Ohio, resulting in a more livable and desirable Century home! Fritz would always work alongside Mark as his helper and therefore he became more educated in the ways of building and construction.

Mark was also an avid fan of speed boating and worked on a crew that was competitive in speed boat racing. He loved to fish, be outdoors and soak up the sun while enjoying his favorite beer, Honey Brown! The sun was kind to Mark as he was the one sibling that enjoyed the darkest tan!

He was truly a jack of all trades and a master of many. He was an amazing finish carpenter but could hold his own with the best in electrical work, plumbing, A/C and heating, etc. There is nothing that Mark wouldn't attempt to fix or renovate or repair. He was truly the best at what he did and his talents were varied and astounding.

He loved hanging out with his friends at Nelson Ledges or other outdoor venues and constructed vendor stands to support vendors serving their customers. Unfortunately, he left this Earth too young. Mark left behind his beautiful talents and personality as a kind and gentle man to so many while here! We love you dear Mark & we will miss you every day. Let's keep the good times in our memories and let his talents and gentle personality roll on forever.

Calling hours will be on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91).
