Obituary for Michael Arthur "Mike" Fries

Michael Arthur Fries passed away suddenly on Monday December 12th 2022 at home at the age of 73.
Quick with a joke or to light up your smoke, Mike was a devoted husband, father, and friend to most everyone he met. Mike worked full-time at Spitzer Lordstown as a Senior Service Writer up until his untimely death and was always ready to pitch in and help as needed.
Mike seemed somehow to always be able to fit 30 hours into a 24 hour day, as no matter how hard he worked he made sure that when he came home that day and every day that his family and golden buddy Murphy would get his full and undivided attention and a quick walk around the block.
A beloved husband and father Mike leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Martha (Marty) (nee Little), his brother Douglas, and daughter Meghan Koloniar (Nathaniel). He also leaves three beautiful granddaughters, Mckenna Kathyrn, Kaelyn Jane, and Kamryn Nicole. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Kathryn Fries (nee Campbell) and Arthur Rulo Fries, and by his brother Tom Fries.
Mike went to high school at the former Lehman High School in Canton and matriculated at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio where his roommate David introduced Mike to his younger red-headed sister, Marty.
Mike spent all of his life in Northeast Ohio which included service to God (Mike was in the choir at Christ Presbyterian Church and later served as Trustee), community, and family. He loved going to The Funny Stop comedy club, traveling in the area, especially Amish country, and was a frequent diner at the Amish Door and Hartville Kitchen as well as vacationing frequently in Hocking Hills.
Somewhere in Heaven Mike is holding court and making sure that everyone is well fed and God is in the corner giving him a smile as he starts yet another joke.
