Mariano (Myron) ‘Mac’ A. Macaluso, 91, passed away August 14, 2019, peacefully at Stow-Glen, Stow, Ohio.
Born on June 22, 1928, in Akron, Ohio’s St. Thomas Hospital to Anthony and Giovanna, (Jenny) (Mutolo) Macaluso, of Misilmeri – a village in the City of Palermo, Sicily.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Joseph and Peter; sister, Josephine, his first wife, Rose DiFiglia, and their two young children; Mark and Jennette, and his wife, June Macaluso. He is survived by his five children: Anthony (Cheryl) Macaluso of Mobile, Alabama; Peter (Ruth) Macaluso of Stow, Ohio; Maria (Kim) Macaluso of Akron, Ohio; Jennifer (Todd) Breeding of Smithfield, Virginia; and David (Meredith) of Massillon, Ohio; grandchildren: Melissa Macaluso, Shelly (Gaden) Goss, Laura (Wayne) King, Dominic (Cori) Macaluso; Brad Oborn, Josh Oborn; and Heather Lowton, Clayton Macaluso; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Garfield High School. Class of 1946.
Mac loved golf, Cleveland Indians baseball, and Cleveland Browns football. He was always ready to talk with everyone about our teams.
He was always described as a sweet, gentle man who everyone seemed to know his name where ever he went. He always loved attending family gatherings, having a little wine, and being the photographer to capture the moments at family gatherings, and don’t forget the cannoli’s, he was known for bringing those to every event as well.
Mac grew up in Akron, living on Corice Street, Patterson Avenue, and then Brown Street. He built a home in Stow, OH, with his first wife, Rose. Lived in Munroe Falls before moving to the Uniontown/Canton area with his wife, June, where he resided before moving to Stow.
Throughout his life, Mac worked at O’Neil’s warehouse, for Melch’s Salad as a driver, as a manager at First National bank; and aquired 30 years of service at LabCorp. retiring at the age of 86. The family thanks all of those at LabCorp., who made working for them a pleasure for Mac.
The family also extends their appreciation to all those at Stow-Glen Retirement Village for taking good care of their dad during his stay there and also the members of Great Lakes Hospice.
Mac belonged to Little Flower Catholic Parish in Canton, Ohio.
The family will have a private celebration of life dinner at a later time. Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
