Obituary for Robert "Bob" Roeger

Robert “Bob” Roeger, 78, has gone to heaven to be with his parents, Maxine and Howard Roeger, and his sister, Lana Carbaugh. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Grubaugh); son Jeffrey (Rachelle); daughters, Jennifer (Darrin) Caldwell, and Melissa (Chad) Dietz; five grandchildren, Cory and Kyle Dietz, Emily, Sara, and Natalie Roeger; brother, Ed (Lisa); sisters, Sandra (Richard) Kremer, Tammy (Michael) McGhee; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A graduate of Garfield High School, where he was an all city basketball and baseball player, he also attended Ohio U. and Akron U. where he played basketball and baseball as well. He was Quality Control Manager and after his retirement consulted for many companies. A member of Bath U.C.C. , he was a Stephen Minister and Stephen Leader and also served as a greeter. A long-time resident of Silver Lake, he lovingly served on the Park Board for many years. He was a volunteer at WEYE, the radio station for the blind where his show was “Sports Side Bar”. He loved all Cleveland sports, golfing and chicken wings.
We would like to thank the Heart-LungUnit at Akron Summa Hospital for the loving and excellent care he received.
Calling hours will be on Friday, Nov.16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91), and from 12:30 to 1:30 on Saturday, Nov.17 at the Bath United Church of Christ (3980 W. Bath Rd.) where funeral services will take place at 1:30. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery will be private.
