Rose Irene Sokira passed away on January 2, 2022.
She was born in Johnstown, PA on July 21, 1933 to the late Joseph and Angeline Krull. She was raised in Portage, PA in a large family of 12 brothers and sisters. She had 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with another soon arriving as well as many nieces and nephews. She cherished all of her family keeping each one close in her heart. She was preceded in death by Walter, her husband of over 50 years. Rose moved to Ohio with Walter and raised their family.
As her children grew, Rose helped the family finances by working outside the home. She loved people and challenged herself by attending college and sharing her knowledge. In the 1980’s. Rose attended classes as an adult learner at the University of Wisconsin - Madison for Banking Administration and the University of Akron for Business and Office Technology. Rose was promoted before retirement to VP at First National Bank. She was a member of the Toast Mistresses Club (Public speaking) and volunteered to teach Junior Achievement (Creatively guiding students to learn about supply and demand, stocks, and the job interview process).
Rose found her strength in her by Catholic faith and prayer. She was a Sunday Mass Lecter and Eucharistic Minister. She found joy in bringing the Eucharist to parishioners who were homebound. Until recently she was the leader of a weekly prayer service “Rosary with Rose”.
She leaves behind her daughters, Vickie (Elden) Wells; grandson Will (Jamie) Wells and granddaughter Megan (Ramy) Mansour; daughter Valerie (Tom) Becker; grandson Joshua (Ashley) Becker; great granddaughter Julia Becker; grandson Matthew (Eden) Becker; great granddaughter, Lilyana Becker, son Walter Sokira Jr.; granddaughter Abby (Zeth) Talbott; great grandsons Levi & Graham Talbott; grandson Kevin (Catie) Sokira; granddaughter Paige Sokira (fiancé Tyler); granddaughter Andrea Sokira.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory, 73 North Ave, Tallmadge, OH followed by interment at a later date at Tallmadge Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Our Lady of Victory’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ourladyofvictorychurchtallmadge.
