Obituary for Sandra Lee "Sandi" Maloney (Phillips)

Sandi Maloney, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away on Dec. 20, 2020.
Sandi leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Tom Maloney. Their joint love of animals was apparent from their first date when Tom brought his dog who sat between them for the evening.   Left to cherish memories of her are her daughter, Denice (Russ) Gochneaur (WA),  grandchildren, Ryan Gochneaur (IA), and Austin Gochneaur (CO); her niece who was more like her daughter, Lisa (Dana) Thompson (OH); great nephews, Tyler Thompson (AK), Justin Thompson (OH); her brother, Fred Phillips (CO); and beloved nieces and nephews, including Gail Young and MaryKate Maloney; along with her many friends. Sandi's sense of humor which could border on the naughty, her delight of laughter,  love for family and friends, her passion for rescuing animals, her love of gardening, and her wisdom filled advice will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have known her.

Sandi was born in Akron, Ohio as Sandra Lee Phillips, and worked outside the home in many roles:  Avon Lady, cashier, volunteer, and veterinary assistant until her early retirement due to MS.  Sandi fearlessly forged through her MS with never a complaint and the tenacity she applied to everything in her life.

Sandi was greeted at the Pearly Gates by her grandson, Devlin Gochneaur; parents, Fred & Grace Phillips; her brother, Harley (Phil) Phillips; and her fun-loving sidekick, her sister, Shirley Phillips, along with the wagging tails of all the dogs she rescued that her were also her family.

There will be a Celebration of Sandi's Life on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at Papa Joe's from 1:30 - 3:30.
