Obituary for Vallie Buchanan (Penland)

Vallie Buchanan, 90, of Akron, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 after her battle with Alzheimer's. She was a retired cafeteria worker, home maker, and a member of Arlington Church of the Nazarene.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Grady Evert Buchanan, she is survived by her sisters, Market Sue Deere of Akron, Janice Hopkins of Maryland; brother, Paul Penland of N. Carolina; three sons, Dale Buchanan of Akron, OH., David Buchanan(Patricia) of Greenwood, AR, Allen Buchanan(Sandy) of Freeport, Ohio; one daughter, Phyllis Scott(Dwayne) of Booneville, AR; 12 grandchildren, Heather Vaungh(Sammy), Blake Buchanan, Corey Buchanan, Tricia Vennum(Stephen), Becca Smith(James David), David Buchanan II(April), Jessica Hunt(Chris), Amanda Johnson(Jesse), Curtis Scott(Sandy), Skylynn Scott, Desiray Barham(Robert, deceased), Dakota Buchanan; and 36 great grandchildren.
She loved her Lord, her church, and her family. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandma, she was passionate about caring for those in need and gardening. She will be missed by her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Rev. Darrel Frazier will conduct funeral services on Wednesday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.), followed by interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
