Obituary for Leroy S. Klingenberger

Leroy S.  Klingenberger
Leroy S. Klingenberger, 94, passed away on July 16. Born in Akron, the son of the late Sef and May Klingenberger, he was a life-long area resident. He had retired from Eagle-Picher (formerly Akron Standard Mold). A sports fan, Leroy not only enjoyed watching Indians games, he was also a former player having played in the Army on Ft. Bragg’s championship team. He later took up bowling and camping. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church.

His survivors include wife of 64 years, Rosemary (Matthes); son, David; daughter-in-law, Jean Klingenberger; grandchildren Rachel, Adam and Jared Klingenberger, and Cassandra (Steve) Forbush; and great grandson, Steven. His son, Kenneth, recently preceded him in death.

Pastor Jack A. Kozak will officiate at a funeral service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church (999 Portage Lakes Dr.) where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park where Firestone VFW Post 3383 will render military honors.
