Obituary for Veronica Schmidt (Lipinsky)

Veronica Schmidt (Lipinsky)
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
After a long illness, the Lord called Veronica Schmidt, 89, to heaven. She died peacefully Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at home.
Veronica was born April 11, 1927, in Lithuania to Louis and Anastasia Lipinsky. She came to Akron as an infant. She graduated from South High School and worked until she met the love of her life, John Schmidt. Veronica was a member of St. Paul Catholic Parish in Akron, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She recently was ministered to by the Prince of Peace Parish in Barberton.
Veronica enjoyed bowling, gardening, identifying backyard birds, playing cards and games with family and was a skilled hand embroiderer. In her healthier days, she volunteered her time and talents to her church, children’s school and delivering Mobile Meals. But most of all she was happiest with family, especially when everyone could be together. She was a long time member of K of C Wives #3410 and Lithuanian Club.
She was preceded in death by her son, John, sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Walter Jatich, Stella and Robert Frank, and Steve Perebzak; and nephews James and John Jatich.
Veronica is survived by her devoted husband of 61 ½ years John; sister, Adelle Perebzak, daughter, Julieanna (Mark) Wilson of Tennessee; sons, Louis (Sheila) of Norton, Joseph (Suzanne) of Colorado and James (Christine); grandchildren, Edward (Kylene) Myers, John (Beanie) Vanbuskirk, Anthony, Sara, Jonah, and Johann; great grandchildren, Evelyn and Thomas, Shawn, Logan and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. Atul Goswami for the exceptional care administered to our wife and mother. Also, to the medical and nursing and ancillary staff of Akron General Hospital, the staff and exceptional physical & speech therapists at Pebble Creek.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.). Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
