Obituary for Bernice Rothermel

Bernice  Rothermel
Bernice Rothermel passed away on June 17 at the National Church Residences in Cuyahoga Falls. Bernice was born on July 24, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to Robert and Helen (Lang) Rothermel. She is preceded in death by both parents and loving brother, Ralph.
Bernice, a kind-spirited woman, throughout the whole of her life lead as a disciple of Christ and exemplified what it meant to be a Catholic woman. Bernice was a graduate of St. Martha’s grade school and a 1951 graduate of St. Mary’s High School where she received the Knights of Columbus “Womanhood Award”. In 1954 she graduated from St. Thomas Hospital Nursing Program where she made lifelong friends with whom she enjoyed going on pleasant outings spanning her lifetime. Later in life she continued her active spirit by joining in activities such as bingo and crafts.
She is survived by sister, Dolores Smith and brother, Gerald Rothermel both of Akron. She is also survived by Michael (Denise) Smith, Patrick and Thomas (Lisa) Smith, several nieces and a nephew.
There are no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls on Tuesday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. Burial service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The National Church Residences took loving care of Bernice especially nurses Kelly and Kim and Julie her aide as well as The Hospice of Western Reserve who made her last days comfortable. "An Angel whispered take my hand and come with me your work is done. I am not alone all who went before me are here and they awaited my return.”
