Obituary for Adele Martha Lattimer

Adele Martha Lattimer, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in her home at Mulberry Gardens in Munroe Falls on Monday, Nov. 28th. Adele lived in the Akron/Stow/Tallmadge area most of her life. She attended St. Martha's Elementary School and graduated from North High School. Adele and her husband, Harry, raised six children and enjoyed and embraced their close-knit family. After Adele was widowed, she worked for Stow City Schools until her retirement in 1980. She loved to cook, have family gatherings, was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. Adele was a devout Catholic and was active in many ministries over the years at St. Martha's, Holy Family and Our Lady of Victory in Tallmadge. As a Eucharistic Minister, she helped with weekly Communion Service at Heather Knoll Nursing Home until she was 91. Adele's devotion to God, her family and service to others was the foundation of her life. Her warm and gentle smile, sense of humor and concern for others will be greatly missed not only by her loving family, but by all who knew her. Adele's life echoes the words of the Blessed Mother Teresa when she said, "We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love." We love you, Mom.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff and residents of Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living where Adele resided for almost four years. Your love, friendship and dedication to her was greatly appreciated. The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to Vitas Hospice for their compassionate help and support.

Adele was preceded in death by her parents, David and Zakia Khoury, her loving husband of 34 years, Harry J. Lattimer, and a beloved daughter, Patricia A. Sayer. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Blanche Nemer, Joseph Khoury, Caroline Stevens, Emil Khoury, Schaffer Khoury, and Marie Bisessi. Adele is survived by her children, Betty (Steve) Steinmetz, Harry "Bud" (Beth) Lattimer, Jo Ann (Barry) Devine, Donald Lattimer, and Stephen (Liz) Lattimer; son-in-law, Harry Sayer; and step-son, Bob Lattimer; as well as her 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
