Obituary for Doris Fox (Sinkhorn)

Doris  Fox (Sinkhorn)
Cuyahoga Falls— Doris F. Fox, 91, entered into eternal peace and joy with Christ on July 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was a life-long resident of North Hill, having attended St. Martha’s Grade School, and North High School. Doris earned a BS in Chemistry from Kent State University.

During WW II, she was an interior riveter on the Grumman F-4U Corsair production line at Goodyear. After the war, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph W. Fox Sr., also of Akron.

Doris enjoyed being a student and this later developed into her becoming a very dedicated, creative and innovative special education teacher. Doris started her teaching career at West Junior High School where she taught 8th and 9th grade science. Upon the urging of her mother, who also taught special education, Doris then began her career in special education. First at Seiberling Center, then at Glover and Barrett School where she taught for 35 years with the Akron Public Schools, teaching Primary Orthopedic Special Education. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph W. Fox Sr., parents Helen and Warren K. Sinkhorn, and brothers Warren (Bud) Sinkhorn and Jack Sinkhorn. She is survived by her two children Joseph (Joyce) Fox Jr. of Apollo Beach, FL and Helen and Joseph J. Montana Jr. of Uniontown, OH, granddaughter Christina (Mark) Wise of Savannah, GA, grandsons Joe (Laura) Fox, Mike (Leslie) Fox, and Jonathan Fox, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Doris also leaves her sister, Sally (Jim) Mima.

Family and friends may celebrate the life of Doris Fox at a Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered at 11:00 AM on July 31, 2014 at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of other remembrances, the family requests donations to Akron General Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of VNS, c/o Akron General Foundation: 1 Akron General Ave. Akron, Ohio 44307 in her memory.
