Obituary for Edward James Callahan

Edward James Callahan, 60, of Akron passed away on Monday, January 23rd at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Ed was born in Akron on October 5th, 1951 to Edward and Mildred Callahan and was one of four sons.
In his younger years, Ed was a dedicated member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians as well as the Akron Rugby Football Club. He was a nurse with the Veterans Administration for over 16 years, and was a Gulf War veteran.
Ed is survived by his children, Evan and Kate, and brother, Thomas. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Jerome and Lawrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Visitation of Mary Catholic Church (87 Broad St., Akron) on Saturday, January 28th at 10am. Following the mass, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at noon at the Ancient Order of Hibernians on Brown St. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ed's honor to the Veterans Restoration Quarters, 1329 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, North Carolina 28801.
