Frank Bernert, 71, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Born in Akron, the son of the late Frank Bernert, Sr. and Corrine (Lowe) Bernert, he has been a life-long area resident. He was the owner of Service Iron and Steel. Frank’s hobbies included collecting cars and playing Euchre. An avid sports fan, he was a supporter of Ohio high school basketball, Cleveland sports, and for a number of years he served as a umpire for the USSSA.
His survivors include wife of 45 years, Jean (nee Sandy); son, Brian (Kimberly); daughters, Kristin (Terri Acosta) Bernert, and Catherine (Nicholas) Finnegan; grandchildren, Will, Ellie, Grady, Madison and Emma; sister, Carol (Bill) Goudy; sisters-in-law, Joy, Janet, and Martha; brother-in-law, Chuck; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as the many loved family dogs, especially "Sandy".
Calling hours will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) where funeral services will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
