Obituary for George Soldierson

George Soldierson
At sunrise on the beautiful morning of December 28, 2013, God opened his pearly gates wide for the loving patriarch of our family. George Soldierson, 83, walked through those gates and into the loving and waiting arms of his daughter, Susan Marie Soldierson. He was also preceded in death by his parents George and Mary E. Soldierson, special friend and mother of his six children, Mary Ann Soldierson, son-in-law Dutch Zinnecker and nephew John Puitt. To keep the memory of his beautiful spirit alive, he is survived by his children, Mary Soldierson-Zinnecker, Greg (Kellee) Soldierson, Anne Skoblar, son-in-law Rich Skoblar, Laura (Randy) Norris and Linda (Mike) Marhofer; grandchildren, Alyse, Kristen, Hannah, Shannon, Brian, Randy, Michael, Sammy and Susan; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
George was born in Barberton, Ohio and graduated from Kenmore High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and lived his life cherishing that honor - Semper Fi! Dad held his Serbian heritage very close to his heart. Waking on Sunday mornings to blaring Serbian music will always be remembered with a smile. He married Mary Ann Kinley and together they raised their six children. He worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 34 years starting as a lineman and working his way up to an engineer. He taught us the importance of a hard days’ work. George’s greatest joy was his family and friends. We will forever miss his laughter, his steel blue eyes and his simple wisdom. He was an honorable man, an incredible father and grandfather and a faithful friend. He will be missed, though as Dad would always say, “March On!”
