Obituary for John W. "Pops" Speicher

John W. "Pops"  Speicher
John W. Speicher, Sr. “Pops”, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Born in Akron on September 24, 1948, he had worked at the Goodyear Rim Plant for 16 years, Ken Payne Builders for 30 years, and Nathaniel Properties for the last 4 years as a maintenance man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching all of his grandkids play sports. A devoted family man, he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur W. Speicher; mother, Idora Hood; and father-in-law, Raymond Cox. He leaves behind wife of 46 years, Linda; son John, Jr.; daughter, Coletta (Bill) Dane; mother-in-law, Coletta Cox; grandchildren, Dustin, Shelby, Megan, and Andrew; great-granddaughter, Haylee; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Pat Russell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.


Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where Pastor Darryl Moulder will officiate at a service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park will follow.
