Obituary for Lizabet "Betty" Colando (Serdinak)

Lizabet "Betty"  Colando (Serdinak)
Lizabet “Betty” Colando, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2013 at the age of 91. Born in Akron the daughter of Stephen and Catherine Serdinak, Betty was a graduate of Garfield High School and was a long time member of St. Paul’s Parish. Starting at Goodyear as a “Rosie the Riveter” she continued her career there, retiring after 35 years of service.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she found joy in cooking, especially for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack, she is survived by daughter, Patricia (Daniel) Smyers; sons, Jack, Jr. (Connie), Ronald (Annette), and Paul (Tammy); grandchildren, Ashley, MIchael, Daniel, Austin, Brianne, and Brandon; sister, Dorothy Adzema; and brother, Edward (Faye) Serdinak.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the GreenView Inn and Senior Independence Hospice for their loving and professional care.
