Obituary for Marilou Maxwell (McKnight)

Marilou  Maxwell (McKnight)
Marilou Maxwell, age 81, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born in Raven Rock, W.Va. and at 18, began a 50 year career in the federal government and business in Washington, D.C., New York City, and Akron. She had been married but spent most of her adult life as a single mother raising three children alone. She attended the Univeristy of Akron, attaining two degrees.
Marilou was a loving, caring, and generous mother and grandmother. She earned their love and respect and they will dearly miss her. Marilou loved to read, do her crossword and picture puzzles, and have lunch with her friends.
Marilou was a member of Alpha Sigma Lamda honorary, Stow Sunshiners, AARP, and Grandma’ Luncheon Club.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her son, Stephen McRoberts, daughters, Kathleen Harvey, and Janice McRoberts; grandsons, Brian and Jesse Harvey.
No Calling Hours, Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Monday, September 9, 2013 at Silver Springs Cemetery with Fr. Paul Rosing Officiant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Battered Women’s Shelter, 759 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44303 in Marilou’s name.
