Obituary for Francis "Frank" Salvatore

Francis "Frank"  Salvatore
Frank Salvatore, 92, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born in Santa Lucia del Mela, Sicily, Italy on December 5, 1922. He immigrated to the United States in 1928. He was married to his beloved wife Carmen (nee Brigandi) on June 17, 1950 who preceded him in death in August 2007.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army's 8th. Division. Frank served our country during World War II and was involved in the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp in Weimar, Germany. He was employed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 34 years until his retirement in October, 1982. Frank was a gifted musician, provided entertainment at numerous events and taught music at the M. O'Neil Company.
Frank is survived by his children Joe (Lynn Morrissey) Salvatore of Libertyville, Illinois, Tony (Ann) Salvatore of Dublin, Mary Ann (Ed) Cosentino of Youngstown, and Cathy (Terri) Infield of Knoxville, Tennessee; Grandchildren David (Jess), Amy, Michael, Molly, Ken Salvatore, Mindy O'Keefe, Rob (Rachel) and Michelle Salvatore, Chris and Sarah Cosentino, Jordan (Kelsey) and Marisa Infield; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren; and sister Nancy Brigandi. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna (Mazzagatti) Salvatore.
The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Parish Activity Center, 1580 Brown St. in Akron on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 9-11AM, with the funeral Mass immediately following at 11AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Special Thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Concordia at Sumner in Copley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the name of Francis Salvatore to Great Lakes Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper St. Jackson, Michigan 49202.
