PLEASE ACCEPT MY CONDOLENCES ON YOUR LOSS.
I was one of Frank's accordion students in the late forties to the mid 50's. It was not something I really wanted to do, but my parents decided rather than the drums I should play the accordion ( a piano was not an option). My parents loved Frank and I will be honest he was great to my friend Jerry Dalton and me.
I am not sure how he did it, but I was able play fairly well and with all the various recitals we did my parents loved what I played and every time we had visitors I had to get the accordion and play LADY OF SPAIN. The weekly trips to O'neils sometimes became a chore, practice sucked, but looking back life was simpiler and was good.
Jerry and I visited Frank a few years back an he was so proud of his fig trees which were in the garage and not a car. I talked Frank earlier this year and he told me the trees were gone and a car was in the garage.
I cannot tell you how much I learned from Frank, but as my parents said it did not hurt me.
So sorry for you loss.
