Linda Howell

I have had the pleasure of knowing Evelyn for just a little over 5 years. I met her in the late summer of 2009, when we started spending our Saturdays together. Whether we were inside or out, we spent many hours in conversation just sitting and talking about the world outside her sliding doors. We talked about the wind, and the rain, the colors of the leaves when they would change and what would soon follow. We would watch it snow and oh how she would hate to see that pile of snow on her deck, "not much we can do about it" she would always say. The Sunshine was her favorite, she loved to see the sun, "looks like a pretty day" she would say, no matter what time of year it was. Her deck was a sanctuary for all forms of wild life and she found so much pleasure in watching the birds and the squirrels, and was always so surprised to see the deer in the morning when I would open the curtains and the occasional raccoons that would visit in the evenings. She spent many hours watching and laughing at their play. I think that she had the fattest squirrels to be found anywhere and every Blue Jay, Cardinal, Sparrow and Finch in Stow visited her; it was always quite the show to watch. Evelyn really enjoyed her newspaper and would spend hours on Saturday reading it, it kept her mind busy, her favorite were the Comics and she didn't miss a one. We listened to the Radio, WHKR 91.5 FM, for hours while she read the paper, and many times she would just lay her head back and listen to the music of the 40's and 50's and maybe catch a nap or two. We would watch Golf most of our afternoons together unless, weather permitting, we would be out-side enjoying the sun where we would sit for hours. Our Saturday's together were easy, and I loved spending time with Evelyn, she was happy all the time and fun to be with. She always enjoyed the visits from friends and family when they would stop over, and oh how she loved the little ones and they loved her right back. There were lots of smiles and laughter in Evelyn's home. We had our morning coffee together, spent time working jigsaw puzzles, looking at the pictures in her many albums, playing games on her new iPad, and my most favorite was Evelyn playing the piano. I loved listening to her play and she very seldom refused a request. Evelyn would play hymns, and Christmas Carols' and some Pop Music, my favorite was "For the Good Times", she practiced that the most and played it really well. We ended our day with the Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy, as long as there was no football on. I loved our time together, I loved taking care of her and her home and I loved her. I will miss Evelyn very much and our Saturday's together, she was part of my life for a short while. She will be one of the many faces that I will look forward to seeing again. I thank her family for giving me the opportunity to care for her and for allowing me to step into their lives and become part of their family for a little while each week. May God bless you all with the Peace and Love that the wonderful memories will bring. Evelyn will always be right there to hold you in that Love. Thank you for sharing you Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Cousin with me. Thank you "For the Good Times". With Much Love, Linda (your Saturday Gal)
